Winter in Wine Country Series: Cozy Fireside Lounging
The smell of seasoned oak pouring through neighborhood chimney tops is not unfamiliar to Sonoma Valley natives. We look forward to the cool, crisp days of Winter where the sun appears almost auburn as it peaks through the rusty leaves still hanging on the trees, or the fog rolls in with a chilly mist at its haunches. Nothing sounds better to us on those days than curling up next to a stone fireplace with a strong drink and a dish to comfort.
If you’re visiting Wine Country in the Winter, here are some of our favorite places to lounge fireside and enjoy a great meal or a few drinks.
Drakes at Bodega Bay
Adjacent to Drakes Sonoma Coast, is Drakes Fireside Lounge. Basque in the beauty of an ocean-view sunset while indulging in a craft cocktail, or Sonoma County wine or beer. Drakes Fireside Lounge, 103 Coast Highway One, CA-1, Bodega Bay, CA 94923,(707) 875-3525.
The Mill at Glen Ellen
The Mill is a hidden gem and a staff favorite. Situated in the historic Jack London Village, the restaurant is attached to the vintage wooden mill used in the early 19th century. Enjoy a wood-fired pizza on one of their creekside decks, or head inside to cozy up next to their rock fireplace where you can nosh on some Spicy Sweet Chili Wings studded with chopped peanuts and scallions and sure to warm you up from the inside-out! The Mill at Glen Ellen, 14301 Arnold Dr Suite 32, Glen Ellen, CA 9544, (707) 721-1818.
